Overview: Led a cross-functional effort to design and implement several key features aimed at creating a robust incident management capability within the Moogsoft product. This included a situation room, chat capabilities with knowledge capture, similar incident detection, and an incident timeline for forensics.

Situation: Incident operators using the Moogsoft platform required more advanced tools to effectively manage ongoing incidents, collaborate efficiently, and leverage historical data for faster resolution. Existing capabilities needed enhancement to meet the demands of complex IT environments.

Task: To gather requirements, design, and oversee the implementation of a suite of features that would constitute a comprehensive incident management solution. This included developing a situation room, chat functionalities, similar incident detection with resolution steps, and a detailed incident timeline.

Action:

  • Led a cross-functional team through the entire lifecycle of feature development, from requirements gathering to design and implementation.
  • Developed a “situation room” feature to provide a centralized dashboard for operators managing active incidents.
  • Implemented a chat capability integrated with incidents, allowing for general discussion and flagging of comments as part of resolving steps for knowledge reuse.
  • Designed and integrated functionality to automatically detect similar past incidents and present their resolving steps to operators.
  • Created an incident timeline feature to visualize how alerts unfolded over time, aiding in both real-time and post-incident forensic analysis.

Tech Stack Used: Quarkus Java, Vue, Aurora MySQL.

Result: These newly introduced features significantly drove sales conversions, with Q2 and Q3 sales remaining 15% above forecast across both quarters. The enhanced incident management capabilities were well-received by customers, improving their operational efficiency.

Context: These product enhancements directly addressed core user needs for effective incident response and management. By providing powerful tools for collaboration, knowledge reuse, and forensic analysis, Moogsoft strengthened its value proposition in the AIOps market, leading to increased sales and customer satisfaction.
